WordPress Woes

The default WordPress theme does not work like they say in their instructions. Sigh. So I downloaded a custom theme that looked like it had what I wanted, but their new updated interface does not work, so that was useless. Sigh again. This is going to take longer than I thought. And everybody says WordPress is so easy to use, but I think that’s just for people who want to make a blog and nothing else.

Yeah, to get WordPress to do what I want, I have to edit the PHP code, even for something as simple as not allowing comments on a page. You can turn off commenting all you want in the UI, but if that one line of PHP code is there, the comment boxes still show up. Not intuitive at all, and not mentioned in the documentation. Just goes to show, you get what you pay for.

Finally getting the new website online!

Well, it has certainly taken me long enough to get this site up and running! I spent a bit of time researching options, and have decided to give WordPress a try. I’ve had one website or another for many years now, and when I first started I did it all by typing the HTML into a text editor, LOL. But it’s time to join the 21st century and try something with a UI that is supposed to make the job easier. So please bear with me, and we’ll see how it goes!
